-Bel is astringent and bitter in taste and hot in nature.

 Being astringent and bitter, it reduces kapha and being hot, it reduces vata.

-Raw bel fruit enhances digestion, binds mala i.e.fecal matter and destroys worms.

-Ripen bel fruit is astringent, sweet. As it is sweet, it enhances strength.

-Belfruit reduces inflammation in the uterus, white discharge as well as postpartum diseases.

 Bels root is useful in diseases of vata, insomnia, etc.

Bel leaf juice is useful in cold, cough, difficulty in breathing etc.
